The Family Resource
Centre publishes a
Monthly Newsletter as well as a montly Calendar
of Events. Both are available to you here, by clicking
on the appropriate link.
The Playschool Program
offers a play based, interactive and social experience, with
a school readiness component, for children ages 0 - 6 years
old. The program is planned and implemented by early childhood
educators, child care assistants, volunteers, placement students
and parents/caregivers. Activities are theme-based and encourage
early childhood development. Activities include creative arts
and crafts, sensory play and experiments, table top peg boards
and puzzles, floor play, a quiet reading area, a dramatic
play area, and a daily structured circle time with music,
rhymes and stories.
Our Parent-Child
Mother Goose program is a 10-week early literacy
program for parents/caregivers and young children. The program
focuses on the pleasure of using rhymes, songs and stories
together. Specially trained staff implement this program on-site
and in the community!
The Healthier Babies
program is a free program for prenatal and postnatal women.
The program is facilitated by a nurse/nurse practitioner at
4110 Lawrence Avenue East. A prenatal and postnatal drop in
runs every Wednesday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., and the prenatal program
is offered every Monday afternoon from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Child
Care is available for older siblings!
Specialty Children's
Programs/Groups are offered frequency throughout
the year. The monthly newsletter outlines all current and
upcoming Specialty Children's Programs/Groups!
Parent/Caregiver Workshops
are offered to parents/caregivers once per month. Topics include
information on early childhood development, childhood illnesses/immunization,
child safety, resources in the community and much more.
Parent/Caregiver Groups
are offered to parents/caregivers throughout the year. Groups
focus on parenting, coping with common family stresses, and
children's behaviour.
Specialty Children's Programs, Parent/Caregiver
Workshops and Groups are offered in association with other
programs from West Hill Community Services and also with community
partners such as Toronto Parks & Recreation, Toronto Public
Health, Toronto Preschool Speech & Language Program, local
churches, local schools and with other community Family Resource
Programs.
Parent Relief
is available to registered participants who have children
over 1 year old. Spaces are limited
and there is a cost.
Our Early Intervention
Services are offered by our Family Support Worker
who is available to parents/caregivers facilitating a variety
of monthly workshops and groups. Support and/or referrals
to internal and external services are available as needed.
Our Parent Advisory
meets once per month during Playschool Program time. New members
are always welcome!
The Informal Child
Care Registry offers a list of home child care
provided to parents seeking child care in the community. New
child care providers are always welcome to join the registry!
